Stairs in Heels

"Nah, you think this is funny?" Damarri huffed, glaring at his girlfriend Rachel with as much disdain as he could muster through the heavy makeup he was wearing. He was already infuriated that he had to climb 11 flights of stairs in a waist trainer and heels, but his girlfriend's giggling the whole way up only made his blood boil even more. The drama began earlier in the day at Rachel's mom's house while preparing for a baby shower. As Rachel and her mom put the finishing touches on their makeup, Rachel's phone rang. "Babe, can you pick that up for me? It's probably Britt asking where we are; tell her like 5 more minutes," Rachel shouted to Damarri without taking her eyes off her own reflection. Damarri searched for the phone; he found it and answered. It was a short call, Damarri figured that Brittany was expecting Rachel. "Power went out at her apartment building, she just wants us to bring some extra ice." "Ain't that some nonsense? She's what, 20th floor?" Rachel's mom shouted from the other room. Rachel just rolled her eyes. Over the next few minutes, Damarri swore he smelled chemicals coming from somewhere in the house. He didn't make much of it, but as the trio walked out the door, the smell became overpowering, and suddenly he fainted. When Damarri awoke, the first thing he felt was how heavy his eyelids were. When he fluttered them open, he saw the familiar face of his girlfriend and another familiar face, his own. Over the course of the car ride to the baby shower, both women tried to convince Damarri that they had nothing to do with this, but Damarri was having none of it. When the car screeched to a halt, Rachel's mom practically sprang out of the car in Damarri's youthful body. She was already opening the trunk to pull the ice out before Damarri could get both heels on the ground. He waddled away from the car on unsteady legs and looked up at the enormous apartment highrise in front of him. "Don't rush it. I don't need you all sweaty in my nice wig," Rachel's mom said sternly to him before walking into the building with a bag of ice on each shoulder.
