“Just find some rich dude to take care of you if you think guys have it so easy.” Those were the exact words echoing through Isaac’s head as he watched the middle-aged man across the table shamelessly flirt with the young waitress attending them.
The irony wasn’t lost on him, he had said those words to Michelle himself.
She used to complain all the time about how hard it was to land a stable, high-paying job as a woman. Isaac never understood the struggle. She was beautiful since they were kids. How hard could life really be? But Michelle was never satisfied. As fate would have it, they’d end up switching bodies somewhere down the line. Now Michelle’s degrees and skills were of no use to him as he tried to claw his way back into civilization. Michelle was a great help and even got him set up on a couple dates she hadn’t previously entertained. Isaac was now seeing why..
“I was thinking we could head back uptown after drinks,” the tall, silver-haired man said, leaning in slightly. His smile was confident. “No need to stick around for dinner here. Heard the food’s not that great anyway. Besides, I’ve got a 16-ounce ribeye defrosted already, just waiting to be grilled. He was watching Isaac’s face closely, eyeing his reaction. Isaac hesitated, “Uptown? Like… to your place? We just got here.” The man didn’t miss a beat, like he’d been through this routine before. “Yeah, you’re right, you’ve got me thinking all kinds of stupid. We just got here!” He let out a hearty laugh, tone immediately shifting back to casual. Isaac forced a polite smile, barely listening now. He was already counting down the minutes until he could head back home.
