“One more thing before you go in there,” I heard Mattheus say before I walked into the estate. “πΎπππππππ ππ πππππ,” he emphasized, and I could only look at him incredulously. “Well, fucking obviously,” I retorted, gesturing down my body with a free hand, the other still gripping my purse like a lifeline. “Atta boy, best assistant ever.” With that, my boss left me alone to face the wolves. I heard a crank from the other side of the wall and turned my attention back to the gigantic doors in front of me. Everything had seemed slightly bigger since my transformation, but this was a bit overkill; the door had to be at least 15 feet tall. The wooden panels slid open, revealing an extravagant hallway lined with small statues on fancy dressers. A man, appearing to be a butler or maybe security, led the way.
My boss had tried to close out the deal with the prime minister earlier, along with our company’s vice president, Kiara, whom I now resembled down to the voice. The prime minister had taken an interest in Kiara, and she wanted absolutely no part of it. They hadn’t managed to close the deal today, but he had extended an invitation to Kiara for dinnerβan invitation she quickly declined. So, here I was.
I was led from this ‘small’ hallway (which was probably bigger than my apartment) to an even larger one, a banquet hall I think. Huge windows looked out into the dark forest surrounding the property. “Monsieur will be in soon,” the helpful man informed me before leaving me alone at the table. “Monsieur, huh?” I murmured to myself, looking around and feeling the eyes of all the old men painted on the walls staring at me. The fancy art pieces must have known I was an impostor.
The door creaked open abruptly, making me jump in my uneasiness. The silence was so overwhelming in here. “My lady, I cannot believe you have graced me with your presence. I heard you American women like to play ‘hard to get,'” he said, approaching to greet me and pulling me up from my chair aggressively. I was spun around, a bit disorienting in my heels. “And looking lovely, I knew that garb you had on earlier was just for business,” his eyes scanned me up and down. “Haha, yes, but this is for business as well,” I giggled out nervously, afraid to look him in the eye. “Of course, of course” He said waving my concerns off.
