Each boy had a TruHeight pill in their hand and a big goofy smile on their faces. They all had the jingle stuck in their heads from when they were little, “Take a TruHeight, reach what you were meant to reach!” A pill that could help you reach the height you were meant to if you had proper nutrition, sleep, and genetics.
The pill had been banned when the boys were young, but they always dreamed of the promises the commercial made. Production didn’t even make it a year for whatever reason, so the boys had to pay top dollar to find these.
“OK, I CAN’T WAIT,” Oscar blurted out before shoving the pill in his mouth; he swallowed without water. Everyone watched in amazement as Oscar began growing in height right before everyone’s eyes. The wide-eyed boys looked on as he became the first of the friend group to hit 6 feet, but he didn’t stop there.
They didn’t even let him finish as the rest of them threw the pills back, guzzling bottles of water. It was starting to look like a basketball team hanging out instead of a bunch of young boys goofing around. Everyone’s transformation was rapid except for Brandon.
Brandon was the only one who needed convincing to get in on this; he took his pill cautiously and watched as the rest of his friends grew around him. He thought he must not be growing much based on how tall they were getting, but then it dawned on him. Not only were his friends getting taller, but so was the wall and everything else. He was shrinking!
He didn’t only feel himself getting shorter, his whole body was morphing. It was hard to gauge how short he had gotten with all the giants now around him. They hadn’t even noticed; they were too busy examining their own bodies, just like Brandon.
Oscar was the first to look up, well down, at him. “Woah, who’s this Barbie?”
Brandon pouted, looking up to meet his friend’s gaze. “I don’t think the pill worked on me.”
Yet, something inside Brandon told him this really was his Tru self.
